Digital means using a system of receiving and sending information as a series of the numbers one and zero. Showing that an electronic signals is there or is not there. Digital Bangladesh means it will be an e-state. All of its activities like governance, commerce, education, agriculture etc. will be powered by computer and internet. Today the world is a global village. Almost every state is heading towards a knowledge-based society.
The first step for ‘Digital Bangladesh’ is to spread the ICT (Information and Communications Technology). Computers, the Internet, video and other technology will be some subjects to study at school and college level. The Government has already decided that computer studies will be a compulsory. It is the expectation of the mass people that our government will be able to build ‘Digital Bangladesh’ by taking all positive steps.

ডিজিটাল বলতে বুঝায় এক এবং শূন্য সংখ্যার শ্রেণি হিসেবে তথ্য আদান প্রদানের একটি পদ্ধতি, দেখানো হয় যে সেখানে বৈদ্যুতিক সংকেত আছে অথবা নেই। ডিজিটাল বাংলাদেশ বলতে বুঝায় এটা একটি বৈদ্যুতিক রাষ্ট্র হবে। রাষ্ট্রের সকল কার্যক্রম যেমন- শাসন প্রক্রিয়া, বাণিজ্য, শিক্ষা, কৃষি ইত্যাদি কম্পিউটার এবং ইন্টারনেটের মাধ্যমে চালিত হবে। আজ পৃথিবী একটি বৈশ্বিক গ্রাম। প্রায় প্রত্যেক রাষ্ট্র একটি জ্ঞানভিত্তিক সমাজের দিকে এগিয়ে যাচ্ছে।
ডিজিটাল বাংলাদেশের জন্য প্রথম পদক্ষেপ হলো আইসিটি (তথ্য এবং যোগাযোগ প্রযুক্তি) ছড়িয়ে দেয়া। কম্পিউটার, ইন্টারনেট, ভিডিও এবং অন্যান্য প্রযুক্তি হবে স্কুল এবং কলেজ পর্যায়ের পড়াশুনার কিছু বিষয়। সরকার ইতিমধ্যে সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছেন যে কম্পিউটার শিক্ষা আবশ্যিক করা হবে। গণমানুষের প্রত্যাশা যে আমাদের সরকার সম্ভাব্য সকল সুনির্দিষ্ট পদক্ষেপ নিয়ে ডিজিটাল বাংলাদেশে গড়তে সক্ষম হবে।
