Arsenic Pollution Paragraph : Arsenic pollution is a burning issue now-a-days in Bangladesh. This problem is corroding our life. The main cause of arsenic pollution is underground water. The first arsenic contamination in our country was detect in 1993. At present 59 districts have been affect by this problem. Human body needs arsenic but if it is excessive, it becomes harmful. Arsenic is found as compounds of oxides and sulfides. When arsenic is present in water, it cannot be seen, smelt or taste. The disease cause by arsenic is call arsenicosis.
The arsenic patient slowly moves to death. Bangladesh govt. with the help of World Health Organization (WHO), World Bank and UNICEF has launched numerous plans to keep water free from arsenic pollution. The arsenic contaminate tube-wells are marke with red water colour and arsenic free tube-wells are mark with green colour. People are being motivate to drink arsenic free water. Indeed, concert efforts and effective social mobilization can make our people free from arsenic pollution.

আজকাল বাংলাদেশে আর্সেনিক দূষণ প্রধান আলোচিত বিষয়। এই সমস্যা আমাদের জীবনকে আস্তে আস্তে অবক্ষয়ের দিকে নিয়ে যাচ্ছে। আর্সেনিক দূষণের প্রধান কারণ ভূগর্ভস্থ পানি। আমাদের দেশে ১৯৯৩ সালে প্রথম আর্সেনিক দূষণ সনাক্ত করা হয়। বর্তমানে ৫৯টি জেলা এই সমস্যা দ্বারা আক্রান্ত হয়েছে। মানব শরীরের জন্য আর্সেনিক প্রয়োজন কিন্তু যদি এটি অতিরিক্ত হয় এটি ক্ষতিকর হয়। আর্সেনিক অক্সাইড ও সালফাইডের যৌগ হিসেবে পাওয়া যায়। পানিতে উপস্থিত আর্সেনিক দেখা যায় না, গন্ধ বা স্বাদ পাওয়া যায় না। আর্সেনিকের দ্বারা যে রোগ হয় তাকে বলা হয় আর্সেনিক বিষক্রিয়া।
আর্সেনিক আক্রান্ত রোগী ধীরে ধীরে মৃত্যুর দিকে ধাবিত হয় । বাংলাদেশ সরকার বিশ্বস্বাস্থ্য সংস্থার সহায়তায়, বিশ্বব্যাংক ও ইউনিসেফ আর্সেনিক দূষণ থেকে পানি বিশুদ্ধ করতে অসংখ্য পরিকল্পনার যাত্রা শুরু করেছে। আর্সেনিকআক্রান্ত নলকূপগুলো লাল রং দ্বারা এবং আর্সেনিক মুক্ত নলকূপগুলো সবুজ রং দ্বারা চিহ্নিত করা হয়। মানুষকে আর্সেনিক মুক্ত পানি পান করতে উদ্বুদ্ধ করা হচ্ছে। বস্তুত সংশ্লিষ্ট উদ্বেগ ও কার্যকর সামাজিক ঐকমত্য আমাদের জনগণকে আর্সেনিক দূষণ থেকে মুক্ত রাখতে পারে ।
