When dissatisfaction or non co-operation grows, a hartal is called. Generally in a hartal day, normal life is disturb. Buses, trucks and other vehicles cannot ply on roads. People cannot go out of houses. They are bound to stay at home. The school, college and office going persons cannot go to their respective duties. The offices and institutions cannot function well. The running of mills and factories are suspend.

The sick people cannot be taken to hospitals. The picketers block the roads. They bring out processions in favour of hartal. Different fiery slogans are utter. Sometimes they become agitate and burn different things. The security personnel come forward to control the situations. There arise tussles between the police and the picketers. In important offices, strong security is deploy. The reporters are seen busy in a hartal day to collect news. Sometimes boys are see playing on open roads. However, a hartal day creates immense problems for everyone. The hartal callers should think before taking this programme. The government should think about the demands of others. হরতাল হলো প্রতিবাদের মাধ্যম। বিভিন্ন রাজনৈতিক এবং সামাজিক সংগঠনগুলো তাদের অধিকার দাবি করতে অথবা সরকারকে উচ্ছেদ করতে হরতাল ডাকে। যখন অসন্তুষ্টি অথবা অসহযোগ বৃদ্ধি পায়, হরতাল ডাকা হয়। সাধারণত একটা হরতালের দিন, স্বাভাবিক জীবন বাধাগ্রস্ত হয়। বাস, ট্রাক এবং অন্যান্য যানবাহন রাস্তায় চলাচল করতে পারে না। মানুষ বাড়ির বাইরে যেতে পারে না। তাদেরকে বাধ্য হয়ে বাড়িতে থাকতে হয়। স্কুল, কলেজ এবং অফিসগামী ব্যক্তিরা তাদের নিজ নিজ কাজে যেতে পারে না। অফিস এবং প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলো ভালোমত চলতে পারে না। চলমান মিল এবং কারখানাগুলো স্থগিত হয়ে পড়ে।

অসুস্থ মানুষদেরকে হাসপাতালে নিয়ে যাওয়া যায় না। পিকেটাররা রাস্তা আটকিয়ে রাখে। তারা হরতালের সমর্থনে মিছিল বের করে। বিভিন্ন জ্বালাময়ী স্লোগান উচ্চারিত হয়। মাঝে মাঝে তারা উত্তেজিত হয় এবং বিভিন্ন জিনিস পুড়িয়ে দেয়। নিরাপত্তা কর্মীরা পরিস্থিতি নিয়ন্ত্রণ করতে এগিয়ে আসে। সেখানে পুলিশ এবং পিকেটার উভয়ের সংগে ধ্বস্তধ্বস্তি হয়। গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অফিসগুলোতে কঠোর নিরাপত্তা নিয়োগ করা হয়। প্রতিবেদকদেরকে হরতালের দিনে সংবাদ সংগ্রহ করতে ব্যস্ত দেখা যায়। মাঝে মাঝে শিশুদেরকে খোলা রাস্তায় খেলা করতে দেখা যায়। যাহোক, এ হরতালের দিন প্রত্যেকের জন্য বিশাল সমস্যার সৃষ্টি হয়। হরতালকারীদের এ প্রোগ্রাম নেয়ার আগে চিন্তা করা উচিত। সরকারেরও অন্যদের দাবি সম্পর্কে ভাবা উচিত। যত দ্রুত হরতাল বাদ দেয়া যায় ততই সবার জন্য মঙ্গলজনক হবে।
