Day Paragraph : May Day is an international day. It is a very glorious day in the history of the labourers. The 1st day of May is observed as May Day. The day is observed to show respect to the demands of the labourers. The history of the day is somewhat sorrowful. On the 3rd May in 1886 some labourers gathered to meet some of their demands. The demands were minimum wage, safety laws and 8 hours work day. The spot was MC Comic Harvest Machine Company, Chicago. The police fired on the stricker.
As a result, one was killed and some were wounded seriously. But at the beginning of the industrial revolution, there was not Timeable for the workers. They had to work for a long time at day and night. It was really very inhumane. So, the strike of the workers was very justified. Therefore, May Day is very important for all the workers. The day is a holiday for the workers. The day is observed in the whole work. They celebrate the day by holding processions, meeting, seminars, milad etc.

মে দিবস একটি আন্তর্জাতিক দিবস। ইহা হয় একটি অত্যন্ত গৌরবময় দিন শ্রমিকদের ইতিহাসে। মে মাসের প্রথম দিন পালিত হয় মে দিবস হিসাবে। এই দিবসটি পালিত হয় সম্মান প্রদর্শনের জন্য শ্রমিকদের দাবির জন্য। দিবসটির ইতিহাস কিছুটা দুঃখজনক। ১৮৮৬ সালের মে মাসের ৩ তারিখে কিছু শ্রমিক জমায়েত হয়েছিল পূরণের জন্য তাদের কিছু দাবি। দাবিগুলো ছিল সর্বনিম্ন বেতন নিরাপত্তার আইন এবং ৮ ঘন্টার কর্মদিবস। ঘটনাস্থলটি ছিল এমসি কমিক হারভেস্ট মেশিন কোম্পানি, শিকাগো। পুলিশ গুলি ছুঁড়েছিল আন্দোলনকারীদের ওপর।
ফলে একজন নিহত হয়েছিল এবং কয়েকজন মারাত্মকভাবে আহত হয়েছিল। তারপর তাদের দাবিগুলো অনুমোদিত হয়েছিল। কিন্তু শিল্পবিপ্লবের শুরুতে কোনো সময়সীমা ছিলো না শ্রমিকদের জন্য। তাদেরকে কাজ করতে হয়েছিল দীর্ঘ সময় যাবৎ দিনে এবং রাতে। ইহা ছিলো সত্যিকারভাবেই অত্যন্ত অমানবিক। তাই শ্রমিকদের ধর্মঘট ছিল অত্যন্ত যুক্তিযুক্ত। কাজেই মে দিবস অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সকল শ্রমিকের জন্য। দিবসটি পালিত হয় গোটা বিশ্বে। তারা দিনটি উদযাপন করে অনুষ্ঠিত করার মাধ্যমে মিছিল, সভা, সেমিনার, মিলাদ ইত্যাদি।
